OPEN CALL for Applications: Visiting Fellows Program 2026

The Open Call is already closed. Until the next year!

Dialogbüro Vienna welcomes applications for a one-month visiting fellowship to be completed either in May, or between the months of September and mid-November 2026. Our program offers you the opportunity to spend one month working on a project of your own choice in a comfortable environment in Vienna while also allowing you to become acquainted with Austrian initiatives.
DEADLINE 6 April 2025 23:
APPLY AT project@dialogbuero-vienna.at
We welcome anyone engaged in antiwar, decolonial, indigenous, and/or gender rights activism who is currently working on an existing project and able to organize an event showcasing their work. The project can take any form: a book manuscript, translation, theatrical performance or anything in between.

What we offer:

  • A one-month fellowship;
  • A stipend (3500 Euros) to cover travel costs, accommodation, living expenses, health insurance, and any incidentals related to the stay in Vienna. If you need assistance in obtaining a visa, please let us know;
  • An office space for fellows in the center of Vienna will be provided by Dialogbüro Vienna;
  • The names of 2 fellowship recipients will be shared publicly.

What we expect from our applicants:

  • You are an activist, researcher, artist, cultural practitioner, or journalist who, regardless of citizenship, hails from the post-Soviet space;
  • Your work focuses on issues related to your region of origin and touches on topics such as: the antiwar movement, ongoing wars, democracy, the imperial past and contemporary coloniality, authoritarian regimes, and resistance as well as issues related to gender equality, contemporary forms of racism, indigenous peoples in the post-Soviet space, migrants and refugees, and questions of historical memory through a decolonial lens;
  • You are able to organize your work in Vienna on your own;
  • You will organize a small event–a workshop, discussion, reading, lecture, or any other kind of presentation–on the premises of the Dialogbüro during your stay in Vienna (additional funding is available for these purposes).
  • You are willing and able to spend either May or one calendar month between September and mid-November working on your project in Vienna. Dialogbüro Vienna determines which month your fellowship begins, but your preferences will be taken into consideration.
Your application should include a brief description of your project, a timeline for the work you would like to complete while in Vienna, your curriculum vitae, links to your previous work and/or social media accounts, and your contact information. Please try to include everything in a single PDF document with no more than 3 pages. Please send us your application in English or German no later than 23:59 6 April 2026, to the following email: project@dialogbuero-vienna.at
We’re looking forward to meeting you in Vienna!
