OPEN CALL: Animating Identity: Language, Memory & Decolonization. Workshop

We invite you to take part in the Animation workshop on family story, generational and collective trauma by Polina Piddubna, an animation director, artist, activist, the author of the Animated Documentary “My grandmother is a skydiver”, premiered at Festival de Cannes.
Animation is a very special art medium where you can explore many different topics without limitations, even complex ones such as decoloniality and identity. The process can also serve as a therapeutic one.

In this workshop, Polina will share her experience of working on her animated documentary and artistic research, and under her guidance participants will create their own personal or family stories.
We welcome everyone who is interested in exploring and reflecting on their family story through animation. No prior experience in animation or the arts is required. However, we encourage you to think in advance about the theme and the family story you would like to explore in your animated work.
